Student Research Supports Creation of Michigan Center for Innovation and Economic Prosperity
An example of world-grant pedagogy has emerged from the Michigan Futures in a Global Economy seminars in which student researchers in James Madison College provided findings that were the catalyst for the creation of the Michigan Center for Innovation and Economic Prosperity. Established in 2006, the center explores the networks and policies necessary to strengthen Michigan's place in the global economy.
The goals of the center are to provide opportunities for
- undergraduate students to participate in applied public policy research;
- policy professionals to participate in educational outreach services that will make them better policy makers;
- academic researchers in comparative political economy to undertake quality, policy-oriented research;
- the public to obtain nonpartisan policy advice.
